Database

Fx Image manager uses Microsoft's Advanced Data Objects to store images in local database files.

The Default Database used by the database modules can be set by selecting from the list of available databases. Please note that before applying the change you must click on the selection in order to move it up to the default database text box.

To create a new database, type in the name that you want to use without the extension and click the Create button. To make the new database your default database follow the steps above. You may create as many databases as you want from the Options module. To be available the files must reside in the root of the application folder.

Data Maintenance

The default database selected in the Options module is always loaded in the other modules on startup.

In the Data Maintenance you can use the Select File button to load another database.

The images in the database are displayed to the right of the list in their original size. Navigate by using the up or down arrow keys on your keyboard,  the Previous and Next arrow images on the window or by clicking on the list entry with your mouse. Double-clicking on the image will display it full screen, stretching it if the image is smaller than the screen and shrinking it if it is larger.

Add, remove, save and export to Fx Image Manager functions are available in the database maintenance module.

Library

In Library view the database is displayed in 20 thumbnails per page. Double-clicking on the image will display it full screen, stretching it if the original image is smaller than the screen and shrinking it if it is larger.

Slide Show

The Slide Show displays all the images in the loaded database at full screen with a user configurable delay .

You may distribute your database files to friends and family with the included stand alone slide show player.

You may distribute the player, FxDBPlayer.exe and your database(s) to anyone who has an ADO enabled computer which a standard technology on Win 2000 and higher operating systems. See Microsoft's web site for more information about ADO on older operating systems.

If sending the player by email you should include it in a zip file or rename it to remove the EXE file extension so that Outlook and other email clients won't delete it from the attachment list.

Note: If you do not have fade effects enabled in Window you will not see any effects in the slide show.
